Hanaano Programme partners from Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia convened in Mandera County for a Cross-Border Natural Resource Management (NRM) Coordination Meeting, bringing together community representatives, government institutions and development partners to strengthen collaboration on shared natural resources, peacebuilding and community resilience.
The meeting brought together RACIDA, Lifeline Gedo, Pastoralist Concern, Concern Worldwide and IGAD to discuss shared challenges and opportunities affecting communities across the Mandera Triangle. Discussions focused on sustainable management of natural resources, livestock mobility, environmental sustainability, conflict prevention and equitable access to shared resources.
Participants reaffirmed the importance of cross-border collaboration and community-led approaches in addressing challenges that transcend national boundaries. By strengthening dialogue and coordination among communities, governments and development actors, the partners aim to promote peaceful coexistence, social cohesion and more sustainable management of shared ecosystems.
The meeting marks an important step in advancing the Hanaano Programme’s cross-border approach, supporting resilient livelihoods and stronger community systems across the Kenya–Somalia–Ethiopia border.
