For 20 years, RACIDA has worked alongside communities, government and development partners to strengthen access to essential services and improve the lives of vulnerable populations across the Mandera Triangle and beyond.
As RACIDA marks 20 Years of Service, Partnership and Impact this year, the organisation is celebrating the milestone by continuing to invest in the systems and services that communities depend on.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, RACIDA handed over essential maternal and newborn health equipment through the child survival initiative to the County Government of Mandera at the Governor’s Office in Mandera.
The donation included electric obstetric delivery beds, baby bassinets, digital weighing scales and baby measuring equipment, providing health facilities with additional resources to strengthen the quality and dignity of care available to mothers and newborns.
The handover was graced by H.E. Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif and brought together county health leadership and the RACIDA team, highlighting the importance of sustained collaboration between county governments, civil society organisations and development partners in strengthening local health systems.
“We appreciate RACIDA’s continued partnership and support in strengthening maternal, newborn and child health services. The equipment will enhance service delivery in our health facilities and contribute to improved quality of care for mothers and newborns. We call upon other NGOs and development partners to emulate RACIDA’s commitment to supporting essential services and working closely with the County Government to improve the wellbeing of our communities.”
The contribution builds on RACIDA’s longstanding commitment to health and nutrition programming in the region.
It complements ongoing interventions, including the UNICEF-supported RMNCAH programme, funded by the U.S. State Department, which brings integrated reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition services closer to communities through outreach.
Together, these programmes reflect RACIDA’s commitment to strengthening both community-level access and the health systems that support quality service delivery.
For mothers and newborns, the availability of appropriate equipment can make a meaningful difference. A functional delivery bed, a reliable weighing scale or appropriate equipment for newborn care represents more than an item in a health facility, it contributes to an environment where health workers can provide safer, more effective and dignified care.
The anniversary donation therefore represents more than a celebration of RACIDA’s past. It is an investment in the future.
Twenty years of impact have been built through partnerships with communities, government, donors, health workers and development actors. And as RACIDA looks ahead, the organisation remains committed to strengthening these partnerships and supporting solutions that respond to the needs of the communities it serves.
