Agro-pastoral and pastoral communities in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia, are extremely vulnerable to climate shocks. Sustained vulnerability to climatic shocks has been one of the root causes of conflict in the region, especially in resource-constrained settings as people compete for scarce resources. The lack of capacity in communities to deal with the impact of climate change leaves pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities anchored in a cycle of poverty.

Through our environment and natural resource management program, we are working to strengthen the capacity of local communities to manage their natural resource base in a sustainable manner. Some of our interventions involve supporting improved food production techniques via agricultural demonstration, dry land farming, and introducing drought resistant crops.
