Mandera County, Kenya –
Farmers in Gadudia and Aresa are demonstrating how investments in Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) are improving livelihoods and food production.
During a joint Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) exercise, RACIDA and IOM Kenya visited beneficiary farms to assess agricultural support under the ELEVATE Project.
Implemented with the Mandera County Department of Agriculture, the initiative provided farmers with CSA knowledge, technical guidance and quality inputs to support sustainable crop production.
The monitoring found that farmers are applying improved practices, producing healthier, market-ready crops, including high-quality watermelons. This increased productivity is improving household food security, raising incomes and strengthening resilience to climate-related shocks.
The PDM also generated insights into the adoption of climate-resilient practices and identified opportunities to further enhance agricultural support and long-term sustainability.
This demonstrates how investments in skills development, productive assets and local partnerships can support the transition from short-term recovery to sustainable economic resilience while fostering social cohesion.
