Across the hard-to-reach communities of Mandera County, vulnerable mothers and children are increasingly accessing essential health, nutrition, and WASH services through RACIDA’s integrated outreach interventions under the UNICEF-supported Accelerating Life-Saving RMNCAH Programme, funded by the U.S. State Department of Foreign Assistance.

Implemented in partnership with the Mandera County Department of Health, the programme is strengthening equitable access to critical services through 120 mapped outreach sites across the county, targeting underserved and vulnerable populations.

During a recent integrated outreach at Dariqa Centre Outreach Site under Khalalio Link Facility in Mandera East, children under five and pregnant and lactating women received a range of life-saving services including nutrition screening, immunization, ANC and PNC care, treatment of common illnesses, hygiene promotion, and Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) awareness sessions.

The outreach approach is designed to bring essential services closer to communities facing barriers to accessing healthcare facilities, while supporting early detection and management of malnutrition, improving maternal and child health outcomes, and promoting preventive health and hygiene practices at household level.

The initiative reflects RACIDA’s continued commitment to working alongside county health systems and development partners to strengthen community resilience and improve the wellbeing of vulnerable populations across Mandera County.
