The 4th Africa–Asia Youth Forum (#AAYF2025) held at the Kenya School of Government, Nairobi, provided a vital platform for meaningful dialogue on shared challenges and opportunities between the two regions. The forum brought together youth leaders, policymakers, and development organizations committed to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future.

RACIDA is honored to share that both our organization and our CEO, Mr. Mohamoud Duale, were recognized at this prestigious event for our steadfast commitment to advancing youth empowerment and strengthening the Africa–Asia partnership.

Mr. Duale received a Guest Appreciation Award for his inspiring leadership and visionary insights, while RACIDA was presented with a Sponsor Appreciation Award in recognition of our continued support and collaboration in creating opportunities for young people across the region.

During his keynote address, Mr. Duale spoke on a theme that deeply resonates with RACIDA’s mission, the migration of youth and the search for opportunity. He called for a shift in perspective:

“We must move beyond labeling this as a simple ‘brain drain.’ The young person leaving a rural village for an urban center, or their home country for opportunities abroad, is not leaving out of disregard, they are migrating toward opportunity, safety, and systems that reward their potential.”

He emphasized that this movement is not a failure but a powerful form of feedback, urging us to reimagine how societies can transform “brain drain” into “brain circulation.” This means creating pathways for the diaspora to invest, mentor, and transfer knowledge back to their communities, while simultaneously building resilient local economies and ecosystems where young people can thrive.

Mr. Duale also underscored the importance of amplifying positive narratives, telling stories of those creating change within their communities and holding duty bearers accountable to sustain progress.

These recognitions would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our donors, partners, and the communities we serve. Their trust, collaboration, and resilience continue to inspire and drive our mission forward.

As we reflect on the outcomes of AAYF 2025, RACIDA reaffirms its commitment to fostering resilience, empowerment, and collaboration among youth and communities across Africa. Together, we continue to build a future where opportunity thrives at home and migration becomes a choice, not a necessity.
