RACIDA Ethiopia with the support of Stichting Vluchteling, in collaboration with local authorities, has identified, validated, and registered 461 households affected by drought and conflict across Dollo-Ado, Filtu, and Dhekasuftu woredas in the Liban Zone of the Somali Region, Ethiopia. This activity is part of ongoing efforts to enhance food security and provide dignified support to vulnerable IDPs and host communities through Unconditional Cash Transfers (UCT).
The validation was conducted through a community-based targeting approach, where local representatives and community structures led the process to ensure fairness and transparency. Community meetings were held to review beneficiary lists, household spot-checks confirmed eligibility, and a real-time complaint and feedback mechanism allowed concerns to be addressed immediately. This participatory approach strengthened community trust, ownership, and accountability.

The households validated include some of the most vulnerable groups—female-headed families, the elderly, and drought-displaced IDPs. For them, the cash support will provide a vital lifeline to meet urgent needs while preserving dignity and choice.
Community leaders welcomed the transparent approach, highlighting its role in minimizing disputes and ensuring acceptance of the final lists. As the next step, RACIDA Ethiopia will roll out UCT payment cycles and monitor the impact on targeted families, while continuing open communication with both beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries to manage expectations.
Through this initiative, RACIDA reaffirms its commitment to accountability, transparency, and community empowerment, ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those most in need while strengthening resilience.
